Below are answers to frequently asked questions about volunteering at Sights & Sounds. If you can’t find what you’re looking for here, please email Catherine at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
1. How do I register to volunteer?
To register, please visit the registration page where you will find the online registration form. You will be prompted to create an account if you do not already have one.
2. What if I want to volunteer with a group or an organization?
To volunteer with a group or an organization, please designate one member as the group leader. The group leader will then collect each member’s name (first & last), email address, shirt size, and which day(s) and shift time(s) each member will be volunteering. Once your group leader has gathered this information, he/she will select the appropriate volunteers shifts on our registration page and enter each group members information. Please be sure to include your group or organizations name, if applicable, in the “group name” box.
3. What are the options for volunteer times?
The festival is from Wednesday, November 30 through Saturday, December 3. Shift 1 is from 4:45-8:00 PM, and shift 2 is from 7:45-11:00 PM. If you are volunteering during the 5K on Saturday, the time is from 8:00-11:00 AM. You may select shift 1 and/or shift 2 for any day(s) that you wish to volunteer for.
4. What time should I arrive?
If you are registered to volunteer during the first shift (4:45-8:00) please arrive no later than 4:45, as check-in will be from 4:30-4:45. If you are volunteering during the second shift (7:45-11:00), please arrive no later than 7:45, as check-in will be from 7:30-7:45. PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME SHIFT 1 VOLUNTEER OPTIONS REQUIRE THAT YOU ARRIVE BY 4:30 PM, AND SOME SHIFT 2 VOLUNTEER OPTIONS REQUIRE THAT YOU ARRIVE BY 7:30 PM.
5. Where do I park?
Shift 1 volunteers will need to utilize street parking and downtown parking, as the shuttles will not be running yet. Shift 2 volunteers can find street or downtown parking, or can park at the Texas State stadium and ride the shuttle. Please consider carpooling, and ensure that you are not parked in a towing zone. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU GIVE YOURSELF ENOUGH TIME TO PARK AND GET TO THE FESTIVAL IN TIME FOR YOUR SHIFT’S CHECK-IN.
6. Do I have to wear my volunteer shirt?
Yes, this is how we distinguish volunteers from festival guests. Please plan accordingly to change shirts or wear your volunteer shirt over your other clothes.
7. Where do I check-in?
Volunteer check-in is located at the main entrance of the festival. You will see a white tent with a volunteer sign before the main gate.
8. What if I need a signature for volunteer hours?
If you need a signature for volunteer hours, please bring your paperwork to our volunteer coordinator, Catherine, at the end of your shift. Forms will not be signed after 11:15 PM. We do not have volunteer hour forms – you must bring your own from the organization or person needing the verified hours.
